Red Wine Beef Stew

A warm pot of red wine beef stew is the perfect comfort food for chilly days. Ingredients

  • 500g beef brisket
  • 1.5 carrots
  • 1 onion
  • 1 potato
  • 200g mushrooms
  • 4 garlic cloves

 

Seasonings

  • 175ml red wine
  • Butter or olive oil, as needed
  • 4 tablespoons tomato paste or ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • Fresh or dried rosemary, as desired
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

 


Steps

1. Slice mushrooms in half. Cut potatoes and carrots into chunks, and chop the onion into large pieces. Cut the beef brisket into large chunks and pat dry.

 

2. Set the BUYDEEM Slow Cooker to Sear-Low mode. Add butter or olive oil, sear the beef until golden on all sides, then add onions and garlic and sauté briefly.

 

3. Sprinkle in the flour and stir to coat the beef and vegetables evenly.

 

4. Pour in the red wine and enough water to just cover the beef. Season with salt and black pepper.

 

5. Add mushrooms, carrots, and potatoes. Stir in tomato paste and rosemary (or other herbs of your choice). Bring to a boil and skim off any foam.

 

6. Switch to Slowcook-Low mode and cook for about 4 hours (adjust time based on the amount of liquid and desired tenderness). After cooking, switch to Sear-High to reduce the sauce to your preferred thickness.
