Steamed Egg with Milk in Mini Pumpkin
Autumn is coming soon, and nothing says fall better than the first bite of pumpkin. Mini pumpkins are not only adorable but also naturally sweet, making them the perfect base for a cozy seasonal dessert. Today, let’s make Steamed Egg with Milk in Mini Pumpkin with the BUYDEEM G52 Electric Food Steamer, 5.3QT — smooth, creamy, and comforting.
With the silky texture of custard blended with the gentle sweetness of pumpkin, this dish captures the warmth and comfort of early autumn in every spoonful.
Ingredients
- Mini pumpkin - 2 (can substitute with kabocha)
- Eggs - 2
- Whole milk - 200ml
- Sugar - 30g
Steps
1. Cut off the top of each pumpkin to make a “lid.” Be careful, as the skin can be firm. Scoop out the seeds with a spoon.
2. Place the pumpkins in the G52 Food Steamer and steam for 15 minutes.
3. Prepare the custard mixture:
-
Beat 2 eggs until smooth.
-
Warm the milk in the microwave for about 20 seconds, then stir in the sugar until dissolved.
-
Combine the milk and egg mixture, and mix well.
-
Strain twice for a silky-smooth texture.
4. Once the pumpkins are steamed, pour out any liquid inside. Let them cool slightly — if too hot, the custard mixture may turn into “egg drop soup.” Pour the custard mixture into each pumpkin, filling about 90% full. Cover with the pumpkin “lid.”
6. Steam again in the steamer for 15–20 minutes, depending on pumpkin size. Insert a chopstick or toothpick — if no liquid comes out, the custard has set.
Done! Garnish with nuts or mint leaves for a fresh finishing touch. Creamy, sweet, and beautifully presented. The perfect way to enjoy your first taste of pumpkin of the season.
Tips
- Warm the milk slightly so the sugar dissolves easily.
- Straining the custard mixture ensures a smooth, silky finish.
- Since pumpkins are naturally sweet, you can reduce the sugar if desired.
